Overview
Whether you just received your VitalPro or want a refresher on the system, this overview will cover the Tymewear system at a glance. This article will help give you context as you go through the rest of the startup guide and other articles in our support documentation.
We will cover the:
VitalPro
The VitalPro chest strap has 2 main components, the breathing component and the heart rate component. The strap measures breathing through the expansion and contraction of the chest cavity as well as heart rate through a single lead EKG and streams it to the mobile app through a Bluetooth connection. The strap is also equipped with an IMU that measures running cadence, player load, ground contact time, etc.
It can also store up to 16 hours of data to be synced with the mobile app post workout meaning the user doesn’t need to have the phone with them during workouts. The strap is not suited for machine washing and although it is IPX6 rated as water resistant, we recommend rinsing the strap material off while keeping water away from any plastics and hang drying.
Mobile App
The Tymewear mobile app can be downloaded on the App Store for iOS users and the Play Store for Android users. Once downloaded it’s used to collect and view data with features such as:
- Collecting Threshold Test and Workout data.
- Using the most recent threshold results to guide training with live breathing metrics.
- Validating exercise intentions such as time spent in each zone with workout analysis.
The Tyme Wear web dashboard is the hub for all of our users’ data. They can see all of their activities and tests along with their profile where they can manage platform integrations such as with Garmin Connect. When looking at workout data on the dashboard a user can see all of the available data from that workout, not just the condensed analysis that is available in the mobile app. The web dashboard also offers the ability to import workout data from other sources and export all the available data as a CSV or FIT file.
Apple Watch App
The Tymewear app is also available on Apple watches. It can be downloaded through the Apple Watch app on iPhones and syncs up HR and GPS data with the breathing data from the shirt. Workouts still need to be started from the phone and the watch still needs to be in range of the phone throughout the workout.
Garmin IQ App
A Tymewear - Garmin IQ datafield is available for head units and newer models of Garmin’s exercise watches. The app connects directly to the pod and displays the live breathing data during a workout. This is a great way of viewing the Tymewear data simultaneously with Garmin’s workout data.
